Vienna (APA) - The start of this year's Licht ins Dunkel action at the evening TV gala on ORF on Saturday was highly successful: the programme produced a new donations record in the amount of 2,497,603 Euros according to a statement from the broadcasters. The previous year's result was surpassed by more than 1.5 million Euros according to ORF.

What began on Christmas Eve in 1973 as an improvised radio programme from the Lower Austrian regional studio, has meanwhile become a Christmas tradition in the whole of Austria. As before, Peter Rapp has invited famous musicians and actors to the start of the donation campaign Licht ins Dunkel. The programme will be broadcast on Saturday 30th November at 20.15 on ORF 2. A 90 minute highlights programme will be shown on 21st December at 13.15 on 3sat.

Stars like Peter Maffay, Hubert von Goisern, Uschi Glas, and DJ Ötzi are expected and some of them will also will taking calls from viewers at the donation telephones. Amongst the most famous telephonists is the Federal President and his wife Margot, who have likewise declared themselves ready to work in the studio.
