4th july 2007 - in the morning

we're going through what will be the last lock for a long time. there have been 16 between regensburg and here. we won't have the next two until the iron gate. before us lies the wide hungarian plain. however first of all we dock in komarom - we have to while away the time here because we won't get a mooring pontoon in budapest until tomorrow morning. reinhard eckert has also been on board since yesterday. he will be on the journey until vidin. he was my companion and translator on the first journey to the delta. that was just 14 months ago. it's really unbelievable what has happened in this time, what has been organised and achieved. we're here now - and doing what we once talked about. and at some time we will have done it and will think about what happened in the past.
