10th august 2007 - river kilometre 553, zimnic (like the mountain north of ischl)

have I, like the danube, become more viscous? do I really identify so much with it? I can only hope that my mind will likewise rid itself of shallows and muck, just as the river has done since primitive times, and there will once more be times of water and more spirited times too.

the thermometer has risen above the 40ºC mark again. in the evening after we have dropped anchor near an island, a speedboat from the bulgarian border police emerges out of the dusk with an interest in us. after listening to our session for a while they disappear again. but before they do they give us a couple of fish as a gift.
