15th april 2007 - salzburg

sarah has been asking for my first "logbook" entry for weeks (or is it months?). but i'm not on the ship yet, where the logbook has its traditional place. i'm still in salzburg; rehearsing. my band is here and we are preparing for the concerts. so i have neither the time nor inclination to dedicate myself to a diary. i like to busy myself with music, with sounds, rhythms, melodies, harmonies and dissonances...

we don't have much time now, in two months we'll be on the ship and there is still a lot to do before then. i have been preparing this concert trip for eighteen months now. in this time i have made several journeys to the black sea, met i-don't-know-how-many people and described my vision to them, i have asked myself time and time again whether this is all even achievable, and begun to doubt my own power of judgement.

now things seem to be happening, at least everything looks that way. the ship will be christened on the 20th june and on the 22nd june we'll be playing the first concert - in vienna.
