As I watched the snail’s-paced loading process yesterday and the day before, a feeling of hecticness fell from me and I felt lighter. A certain fatalism came over me. Abandonment to God’s will, you could say, too. On the river, as up a mountain, every feeling passes, of omnipotence and responsibility for everything that goes with that. Responsibility in the here and now is the only real thing we must carry. Not for yesterday, not for tomorrow. And today is soon tomorrow...

But first today must really become today and I need a few hours sleep for that.
