21st June 2007 - summer solstice

as I wake and open my eyes, vineyards are going past my cabin window - we are in the wachau region.

Then the landscape widens, forests on both sides are going past, a power station on the left, Zwendendorf, Austria's good fortune and Kreisky's end? We go further, past korneuburg, and then, four hours late, we see Vienna. We barely arrived when the pure energy breaks above us, with a top speed of 100 km/h. A crazy storm lets rip for half an hour. Stages on the Donauinsel are get broken, huge trees are uprooted, a woman is killed by a falling branch. It is an inferno. But we are lucky. Our stage and the roof are not up. So nothing is broken apart from two plates. Are they the shards that bring good luck?

A bright stripe is soon to be seen on the western horizon, the setting sun bathes everything in golden light and spins two big rainbows over the river and the city.
