Back from Ismajil. For breakfast at sunrise on the Danube there are cigarettes and schnaps and coffee a little later. At 7 o'clock along come border police and customs officers. We fill in a plethora of forms and they stamp everything multiple times, then ask us half the questions on the form, whether we are performing and then wish us a good journey. The trip takes three hours. Across the enormous Sulina branch, through the delta and upstream over the even more gigantic Chilia branch to Ismajil. I become aware of The power of the water. What a river, what a being. And with it is the water that comes from the ravine behind my house in Goisern. Water from the Black Forest, from the Engadin, as good as all the water from Austria ... it's interesting that a Roma language is spoken in Engadin as well as in the Danube delta 3000km away and the people can understand each other. yes, yes, the Romas ...
