OBERTRAUN. There was a spirit of optimism at the season opening of the Dachstein caves on Thursday. For the realisation of a concept considerate of nature, the DAG (Dachstein Tourism plc) and the Bundesforste (Federal Forestry) formed a Dachstein and Ice Caves limited partnership. For 10.8 million Euros, the cleaning of the first and second cable car sections, the redesign of the World Heritage World of Hiking Dachstein-Krippenstein and a revival of the ice caves as well as the Schönbergalm should be achieved. Hubert von Goisern presented the premiere of his composition for bells, mixed choir, solo voice and sounds of nature in the Giant Ice Cave. The music piece is to be heard this season as a fixed sound installation via a multichannel system in the Eisdom.
