Hubert von Goisern's childhood days

Musician Hubert von Goisern's childhood memories are filled with curiosity, courage, and the allure of the foreign – all qualities that would later define his music too. Born in Bad Goisern in 1952 as Hubert Achleitner, he wanted to be a conductor as young as five. At the same time, he discovered the forest next to his childhood home as his very own playground.

"I was always have always been a daredevil. Even as a boy, I turned roaming through the dark thicket at night into a test of courage. At first, I would whistle nervously to myself, but soon I was striding boldly through the moonlight, exploring that magical world."

He made alpine rock popular in the early 1990s with songs like Koa Hiatamadl, without allowing himself to be reduced to a mere purveyor of folklore. His music thrives on tension: between tradition and innovation, homeland and the cosmopolitan, dialect and global influences. Journeys to Africa, Tibet and the USA have shaped his view of sound and society. Von Goisern is not just a musician, but an author, filmmaker and commentator too. He speaks out on issues such as democracy, the environment and cultural diversity. After periods away from the public eye, he returns time and again with new projects; after three years away from the stage, a new tour has been announced for 2027 with the new programme Zu leise? Zu laut!
